Stipa gigantea

One of the largest feather grasses it forms a clump of very fine leaves followed in summer with purple, turning golden, oat like flower heads which reach a height of 2.5m, these persist well into winter. Grow in full sun in any moderately fertile soil that doesn't get waterlogged in winter. Spreads to 1.2m
